1080p Up-Conversion By interpolating video data using proprietary algorithms, SD format data is up-converted to 1080 x 1920p HD format video data. This conversion to HD format increases the richness of the original data by approximately six fold, and produces the highest possible image quality when viewing content on a large-screen HDTV. Adaptive HD Enhancer Enjoy watching crisper and sharper video enabled by detailed reproduction of contents on DVD and HDD.

Auto Preset Down Load Connect a DIGA DVD recorder to your VIERA TV via an HDMI cable, and the TV channel setting information is automatically downloaded to the DIGA recorder. Direct TV Rec. If you want to record the program you’re watching, you can start immediately by pressing the VIERA Link button on the VIERA remote control and selecting “Direct TV Rec.” on the VIERA Link menu screen. Pause Live TV Pause Live TV lets you freeze TV programmes just like pausing a DVD, by selecting ""Pause Live TV"" on the VIERA Link Menu.

When recording a TV programme, this function determines where new scenes begin (by "listening" to the voices in the programme) and automatically inserts chapter marks at those places. This makes it easy to skip over adverts and start playback from a particular point.
Fan Control Technology for Quiet Operation DMR-EX769 feature an advanced control system that automatically adjusts fan speed based on information received from an internal heat sensor. When the internal temperature rises, the fan turns on to prevent overheating. When the temperature is low, the fans shuts off entirely, providing whisper-quiet operation. Floating Structure Locating the damper closer to the hard disk drive than in conventional hard disk drive mounting effectively improves absorption of hard disk drive vibrations. DVD Drive Control The DVD drive operates only when a disc is inserted, eliminating unnecessary noise.

Intelligent Auto Standby After watching and listening with the compatible DVD recorder automatically turns off when you return to the TV using the VIERA remote. * 2009 VIERA TV Standby Power Save DVD recorder with Quick Start function will turn on/off when TV is turned on/off. * 2009 VIERA TV

Idiot-proof recorder!

I owned a Sony SVR S-500, which recorded two programmes at the same time, and was almost £300 when I bought it 2 and a half years ago. It was nothing but trouble and in the first year had both circuit boards replaced. It often started recordings early, so I got 4 minutes of ads and missed the end of a programme. That's when it bothered to record anything at all. Sony didn't even reply to my letters, so I have voted with my feet and gone to Panasonic and- it's brilliant so far.It DOES have a series link, and the only negative so far is that irritating ad box which takes up so much of the guide page.Easy to operate and pretty idiot proof! One of my better buys and a nice piece of kit that I would recommend.
Fantastic Machine

Bought this last week and although it takes a little while to work out how to operate it and read the 100+ page manual, I just connected it up as per the diagram in the manual, switched it on and it set itself up, tuned in lots of Freeview channels and was ready to go in about 5 minutes. The picture quality is superb when played back through my Panasonic Viera tv and I can operate both TV and PVR with either remote using Viera link. I think the previous reviewer who complained about the lack of a Series link must have an older model as mine has a Series link option which works a treat.
Another fantastic product from Panasonic

This product is fantastic, exceeded all expectations, smooth, high quality, allows you to watch a recording whilst still recording at the same time. So easy to setup, just plug-in and it sets itself up in no time at all.
All I could ask for in a recorder

The DMR arrived 4 days after ordering it; it was well packed and very straightforward to set up. I am an octegenarian and was still using video tapes until I got this DMR but it presented me with no problems and where the process was not intuitive, I found the manual very helpful and not at all difficult. On the day I receive it I tested all the processes it would do and all worked well. The recordings on the hard drive give an excellent picture on my Panasonic 42" plasma screen and transfer to DVD was simple with several quality options including one to automatically fit the chosen programmes to the disc. Because, at my age, my sight is not as discriminating as it used to be, I can make no definitive comment on the relationship between HD and SD but there does not appear to me to be a great difference between them so perhaps the upscaling does work well: the quality of the picture is excellent and a joy to watch. I would not hesitate to recommend this product.
